Wasteful Spending

First, I want you to know that our current Council and Mayor have voted 10 times in 8 years to raise your taxes. I will oppose any increase in our property taxes. Instead, I will work to create a more efficient economy with the resources we have, and eliminate wasteful spending.

The renovations of the snack stand at Observatory field cost taxpayers $100,000.00. The reason behind the cost was that it sustained $300 in candy damage from a rainstorm. This money could have paid almost an entire year’s salary for two police officers. Upper Darby council had to pay $20,000 in fines to the federal government for violating child labor laws. Someone should have been accountable for this. Upper Darby council wants to spend tens of thousands of dollars on refurbishing the mayor’s office and is raising our taxes to pay for it. I would not seek any renovations for office spaces unless they were deemed unsafe. I will root out misspent money and redirect it toward better uses instead of continually raising taxes.

Patronage jobs and contract bids which are given to family and friends of the well connected also need to be addressed. These "favors" end up costing taxpayers thousands of dollars each year.
